CHARLESTON, WV — Today, the Senior Power PAC announced its endorsement of U.S. Senator Joe Manchin because he’s been a reliable advocate for West Virginia’s seniors.
The West Virginia Directors of Senior and Community Services Senior Power Political Action Committee presents senior centers across the state and its 3,740 employees. The association’s members provide services in all 55 counties, including preparing and delivering nearly 2.5 million meals each year. They transport seniors on more than 250,000 trips, which include doctor and medical appointments, transportation to the pharmacy, and to the grocery store.
“Mountain State seniors can trust Senator Joe Manchin to look after them because he’s fought to make sure that all seniors can retire with dignity,” said William Carpenter, President of WV Senior Power PAC. “Joe Manchin fights for our seniors. As Governor, he secured hot and cold trucks in all 55 counties to deliver meals to seniors, increased the lottery funding for Senior Services, established the Lighthouse and FAIR programs, and cut the food tax in half. As our Senator, he is fighting to protect Medicare and Social Security. Manchin is the right choice for seniors on Election Day.”
Senator Manchin said, “I’m honored to have the endorsement of the people who dedicate themselves to helping the greatest generation. I’ve worked closely with senior center personnel my entire career in public service to enhance the quality of life of seniors. Older West Virginians should not have to struggle in their later years. I want to make sure our senior centers can continue to help seniors get to their medical appointments, get access to nutritional meals each day, and get help going to the store when they need it. I will keep fighting to make sure no senior gets left behind.”
